ISLAMABAD, Aug 12: The six-week joint training camp of boxers from Pakistan and six other countries is likely to be held here from Sunday for the Commonwealth Games preparations, it was officially learnt on Thursday.

The camp, to continue till Sept 28, will feature pugilists from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic and Kenya. The Commonwealth Games will be held in New Delhi from Oct 3-14.

The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has already granted permission to the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) to hold the multinational training camp in Islamabad.

PBF President Doda Khan Bhutto, Vice President Iqbal Hussain and Secretary Mohammad Akram Khan met on Wednesday Director General PSB Syed Amir Hamza Gilani at the PSB National Coaching Centre in Karachi to finalise the training programme.

“It has been finally decided to invite six teams, instead of ten, for the joint training camp,” Akram said here on Thursday. Now, he said, the six countries to send their pugilists for the joint training are Nigeria, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Central Republic of Africa, Kenya and Cameroon.
