LARKANA Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Government was taking all protective measures to strengthen the protective bunds of River Indus from Guddu to Kotri barrage.

 

This he said while visiting Larkana-Khairpur Bridge on River Indus, near Purano Abad, taluka Bakrani of Larkana district here on Tuesday.

 

He said that all precautionary measures have been taken to protect the bridge against flood water. He said that in the time of difficulty “we should pray for solution of the problem”.

 

Sindh Chief Minister appealed to the people of Katcha area to shift immediately to the safer places to protect themselves against the impeding high flood at Guddu and Sukkur barrages.

 

The Chief Minister said that from Sukkur barrage to Larkana-Khairpur bridge on the left bank 80 sensitive points have been identified and on the right bank 90 sensitive points have been identified.

 

He said that the vulnerable points were being strengthened by the irrigation department by using heavy machinery, Labour & required Abkalani material.

 

The Chief Minister said that the Police & Rangers had been put on high alert along with protective bunds of Indus River besides Pak Army was helping the civil Administration to meet the flood situation.

 

The Chief Minister said that all the Provincial Ministers were assigned duty to supervise flood situation in their respective areas.

 

He said that for the monitoring flood situation in Sukkur & Guddu barrages he himself had established a camp at Sukkur.

 

The Chief Minister said that the people of Katcha areas were asked to shift to the safer places.

 

While talking to mediamen he said that the assassination of MQM MPA Raza Haider was being done by the investigation team under the supervision of DIG Sultan Khawaja.

 

He said that we will try to make the leaders of MQM and ANP sit together and talk to on another in their mutual interest.

 

On the occasion provincial Ministers Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Ms. Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto, PPP leader Khair Muhammad Shaikh large number of party leaders & workers were present. Sindh Chief Minister visited the newly constructed spars & sensitive points of Abad-Mungli Bund in Larkana district.

 

The Chief Minister directed the officers of irrigation and NHA to complete the work on River Indus in Larkana district and ensure patrolling on bunds around the clock, he added.
