Aqeel bowls Zone-III to victory

KARACHI, Nov. 8: Aqeel Sharif captured six wickets for 73 to play main role in Zone-III four wicket win over Zone-IV in Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Inter Zonal cricket championship tie at KCCA Stadium Wednesday despite a superb hundred by Tariq Ali.

Tariq hit 11 boundaries as Zone-IV scored 226 for nine wickets in 50 overs. In reply Zone-III romped home for the loss of four wickets with Sharjeel Ashraf hitting an unbeaten 88.

Saif Ashraf slammed a

superb 118 with 12 hits to the boundary but failed to save Zone-II from 14 runs defeat at the hands of Zone-IV after an exciting contest at LKMC Ground.

Mansoor Baig struck an enterprising 68 with eight 4s. Summarized scores:

Zone-IV beat Zone-II by 14 runs. Zone-VI 273 for seven wickets in 50 overs (Mansoor Baig 68, Ahmer Saeed 64, Fahadullah 43; Talib Ali 4-89);

Zone-II 259 for seven wickets in 50 overs (Saif Ashraf 118, Imranullah 65, Zeeshan Siddiqui 25; Kaleem Siddiqui 4-51, Rizwan Qureshi 2-33).

Zone-III beat Zone-IV by six wickets. Zone-IV 226 for nine wickets in 50 overs (Tariq Ali 118, Farman Ali 54, Aqeel Sharif 6-73);

Zone-III 229 for four wickets in 50 overs (Sharjeel Ashraf 88 not out, Asim Rizvi 54, Wajihuddin 24 not out, Mubashir Ahmed 23). —APP
