ISLAMABAD, Aug 29: Islamabad Traffic Authority (ITA) has kicked off a drive to take stern action against the misbehaviour of public transport drivers with passengers, the ITA secretary, Rana Akbar Hayyat, told Dawn on Thursday.

The official said the ITA had impounded 15 vehicles during last three days and their drivers were fined for misbehaviour with passengers.

Giving details, he said the people could lodge their complaints by telephone at ITA’s phone No: 9261622.

“After the filing of the complaint, the ITA calls both the complainant and the accused to hear their point of views and then an action is taken,” he added.

He said 95 per cent of the complaints were proved genuine but in some cases the passengers themselves were responsible for the incidents.

He said the assistance of police would be taken to gear up the campaign, and in this connection a meeting would be held within a couple of days to chalk out the future line of action.
