HYDERABAD, Aug 28: Over 150 secondary teachers of Hyderabad district observed a token hunger strike outside the office of District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman here on Wednesday to press for the acceptance of their demands.

Including female teachers, the protesters were led by the district president, Government Secondary Teachers Association, Jan Mohammad Parihar.

Earlier, they staged a motor rally up to the district Nazim’s office from the Government High School, Society.

The district Nazim came out of his office and received a memorandum from the teachers.

He assured them their problems would be resolved within one week and asked them to call off their hunger strike.

He directed DCO Mir Hussain Ali on telephone to meet the delegation of the Association and instruct the EDO (education) to resolve the teachers’ problems without delay.
