ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Monday stayed hearing of an accountability reference, involving Asif Zardari with regard to assets pending in the Attock Accountability Court.

Zardari, in his writ petition, stated that the first challan in the case had been submitted in 1998. After that, another supplementary reference was submitted in the case.

In September 2001, another supplementary reference was submitted in the court when the case was already half way through, as out of 24 prosecution witnesses, 11 had been examined.

Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, after hearing Raja Anwar and Farooq H. Naek, issued a notice to the NAB and adjourned the case till November 16.

The petitioner said additional documents had been placed on the record of the court without any formal authorization from the Nnational Accountability Bureau chairman as required under the NAB ordinance.

It was stated that after three years of the first challan, there was no justification for the submission of another supplementary challan.
