KARACHI Second seed Farhan Zaman of the PAF added another feather in his cap when he shocked top seed and defending champion Shaikh Saquib in five agonising games to win the boys' under-19 title in the fourth DG Rangers Sindh National Junior Squash Championship at their squash complex on Saturday.

Winner of Roshan Khan crown in the same age category in Dec last, junior international Farhan fought tooth-and-nail to win the battle 11-8, 9-11, 15-13, 10-12, 11-5 in 53-minutes.

Top seed and talented Zoya Khalid of ZTBL maintained her supremacy edging past departmental mate and second seed Rushna Mehboob 6-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 in 41 minutes to claim the girls' under-19 crown.

Sadia Gul took just 13 minutes when she whipped Sindh's Faiza Zafar 11-2, 11-5, 11-5 for the under-15 title.

Promising Ali Bokhari picked up his maiden boys' under-17 title inflicting 11-4, 11-8, 9-11, 11-3 victory over Saad Shahid in the final.

The boys' under-15 title went to second seed M. Tayyab who routed top seed Ammad Fareed 14-12, 8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-7 in 56-minutes.

Teenagers Israr Ahmed and Bilal Khan, both from Punjab, claimed the boys' under-13 and under-11 titles respectively.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, who graced the finals, gave away the prizes. The event carried richest-ever purse of one million rupees.

Bilal Khan (Punjab) bt Mehran Javed (PAF) 11-8, 11-7, 8-11, 7-11, 11-8.

Girls' under-19

Zoya Khalid (ZTBL) bt Rushana Mehboob (ZTBL) 6-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.

Girls' under-15

Sadia Gul (PAF) bt Faiza Zafar (Sindh) 11-2, 11-5, 11-5.
