PML-N censures minister’s remarks

Published August 27, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: The secretary-general of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Saranjam Khan, has said that a person has been appointed as federal information minister who even does not know the meanings of elections.

He made these remark while commenting on the minister’s statement that the president had already been elected for the next five years.

He reminded the minister that his colleague, Law Minister Khalid Ranjha, had admitted before the international media that Musharraf’s claim that he would remain president for five years was unconstitutional and negation of the idea of elections, the PML-N leader said.

Mr Khan said Gen Musharraf was merely a self-appointed president, he added.
