BAHAWALPUR, Aug 26: PML-Z chief Ijazul Haq, his brother Dr Anwarul Haq and brother-in-law Faiz Rahim filed their nomination papers for NA 187 (Bahawalpur V, Yazman tehsil) on Monday.

Fiaz Rahim, the son of former governor Gen Rahim Khan, also filed papers from NA 185 (Bahawalpur III) while Dr Anwarul Haq’s papers were filed for PA 275 (Yazman tehsil).

In NA 187, PPP’s Aitzaz Ahsan, PML-N’s Khalid Jaja and PML-QA’s Azhar Mahmood are in the run.

Ijazul Haq had also filed his papers for NA 151 (Haroonabad tehsil, Bahawalnagar district) to throw challenge to PPP’s Afzal Sindhu and PML-QA Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor.

Dr Anwar has also filed papers for NA 193, NA 196 and PP 293 of Rahim Yar Khan district.

PML-QA’s Punjab chief Chaudhry Pervez Elahi also filed papers for PP 292 (Sadiqabad tehsil, Rahim Yar Khan district) on Monday.

Dr Anwar is also contesting from PP 275 and 276 (Yazman tehsil, Bahawalpur district).

Former minister of state for railways Farooq Azam Malik, who has not been accommodated by PPP, filed his nomination papers for NA 183, 184 and 185 (Bahawalpur I, II and III). He is making efforts to get ticket of any political party.

It is expected that there will be over 100 candidates for five NA seats and over 250 candidates for 10 provincial assembly seats of the district.
