HYDERABAD, Aug 25: The Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, at a meeting held here on Sunday, warned that if what it called black and anti-workers laws, under which employees were being sent on forced retirement, were not repealed, the responsibility for the consequences would rest on Wapda authorities.

CBA Union president Abdul Latif Nizamani presided over the meeting which was attended by zonal and divisional office-bearers of the union from Hyderabad, Latifabad, Kotri, Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar.

Speaking at the meeting, Nizamani said Wapda was a profitable organization but under a planned conspiracy the employees who had been serving the department for years were being sent on forced retirement which he said had created unrest among the employees.

He said if the process of the forced retirement was not stopped, the Wapda employees due to mental pressure would not be able to perform their duties with devotion.

He said those employees who did not obey orders of their superiors should be punished but Wapda should not force its employees to commit self-immolation.

AUCTION: The district officer, fisheries, Hyderabad, announced here on Saturday that the contract for fishing rights of public waters of the district would be auctioned at his office on Sept 5 at 11am.
