QUETTA, Aug 24: Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal said on Saturday that the academic atmosphere at the Balochistan University has improved as a result of the government’s steps.

“No previous government took such courageous steps for improving the affairs of the university,” he said at the concluding ceremony of the Golden Week at the university.

He said the credit for the change went to the university administration and the students.

He said the federal government was also making efforts for the promotion of higher education in the country and the cabinet had approved the establishment of an autonomous commission for higher education to provide facilities, guidance and cooperation to the universities.

He said the provincial government would extend cooperation to the university. He announced a grant of Rs1m in connection with the week.
