KARACHI, May 24 At least two seeded players were knocked out in the first round in different categories on the opening day of the inaugural Tughral Shah Khan Memorial National Junior Squash Championship at PN Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Monday.

Unseeded Rizwan Gul of PAF sprang a surprise when he inflicted 11-7, 11-7, 10-12, 13-15, 11-4 defeat on second seed M. Ayaz Khan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to advance into boys' under-17 quarter-finals.

Similarly, another second seed Sumaid Rashid of Punjab made his exit losing 8-11, 11-13, 12-10, 7-11 to province-mate Ahmed Ali Khan in boys' under-11.

Earlier, provincial secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs, Shoaib Siddiqui, formally inaugurated the event.

The girls' under-15 and under-19 matches begin on Tuesday.
