LAHORE, Aug 21: A man reportedly confessed on Wednesday to having killed his elder brother, sister in law and their two children at Noor Colony in North Cantonment.

A police officer quoted Gulzar Ali, 22, as having said his brother, Sardar Ali, who controlled the family property and income from it, had refused to share it equitably with his younger brothers. In their three-storey house, he said, he was made to share a room with an unmarried sister.

Accusing Sardar of inhuman treatment, Gulzar said he felt constrained to act. “I did not find any other option,” he said.

He said he had tried first to throttle Sardar, 35, and then slaughtered him. Meanwhile, he said, Sardar’s wife Tabassum, 30, woke up and he had to kill her. Next, he said, he killed their two children, Zameer, 6, and Mahnoor, 3, fearing that they would treat him no better than their father had done.

He also produced the murder weapon.

The police registered a case against him on his brother Sattar’s complaint. Tabassum’s father, later, approached the police and got registered a case against Sattar accusing him of complicity in the crime.

The bodies were sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.
