SUKKUR, May 7 The Division Bench of Sindh High Court Sukkur, staying appointment of primary schoolteachers in district Sukkur, has issued notices to Secretary Education and Literacy Sindh, DCO Sukkur, EDO Education Sukkur and Director Examinations and Testing Sindh University, Hyderabad to appear before the court on May 13.

Division bench comprising Justice Bhajan Das Tejvani and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan issued the orders on Friday, on a constitutional petition filed by Abdul Qayoom Qazi and other 18 candidates of Pano Akil through their advocate Ali Gul Abbasi.

Candidates holding intermediate certificates appeared for the written test for the post of primary schoolteachers under the Sindh University in 2009, and secured the required 60 per cent marks, petitioner stated.

The Sindh government issued a merit list of successful candidates on March 15 this year, which totally ignored all those securing the required marks giving preference to those securing less marks but holding bachelor or masters degrees, it further stated.

Petitioner said that the officers of the concerned department refused their communication in which they had asked them to consider the bachelor and masters degrees of those candidates who had obtained the required marks.
