Leghari for freedom of information

Published August 20, 2002

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: The primary objective of the Millat Party is to restore the basic human rights and dignity of man, said Sardar Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari while speaking at the National Alliance secretariat here on Monday.

“To make the masses aware of the government affairs, freedom of information must be preserved”, he said.

He added that after the removal of Benazir Bhutto, his government decided to enforce a law, which provided the common people with easy access to the official documents.

Mr Leghari regretted that the law was abolished subsequently.
