HYDERABAD, Aug 18: Both the PPP-backed incumbent president and general secretary to the Hyderabad District Bar Association (HDBA) retained their seats in its annual elections on Saturday.

President Aziz Ahmed Sheikh (322 votes) beat ex-HDBA President Chaudhry Basheer Gujjar (128), whereas Haneef Qaimkhani with 252 votes defeated Zahoor Baloch, Sardar Qureshi, and Haneef Sheikh.

Fazal Qadir Memon (159 votes) beat Nasreen Qadir with a slight margin of three votes.

Basheer Samoon was elected as Library Secretary with 325 votes.

Ms Allah Bachai, Abdul Hayee Pathan, Mohammad Ismail, and Abdul Jabbar Bahlai were elected as senior members of the Managing Committee.

Asma Hameed, Ali Ahmed Borhi, Ikhlaque Ahmed Memon and Wali Mohammad Jumari were elected as junior members of the Managing Committee.

Only 503 votes were cast out of around 1,200 votes.

SUSPENDED: The AIG, Hyderabad region police, has suspended Sub-inspector, Investigations, Tando Adam, Sanghar District, Sher Khan, for failing to conduct proper investigation of two cases registered with the Tando Adam police. Due to the mishandling of the investigation, a huge mob had protested against the police action.
