HYDERABAD, Aug 18: A large number of people, including women and children, belonging to the Lund community of Tharparkar district, staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday evening against the alleged excesses of Sindh minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Mithi DPO Mehtab Shaikh.

Talking to newsmen, Suleman Khan, Sobho Khan, Mohammad Khan, Abdullah Khan and others said that at the insistence of the provincial minister, a heavy contingent of police raided four villages of the Lunds — Kathu Mari goth, Umaid Ali Lund goth, Mohammad Rahim Lund goth and Suleman Lund goth — on Saturday and arrested 15 persons.

The protesters said that the police also took their licensed weapons.

The protesters said the Lund community had opposed the Arbab Ittehad in the local bodies election and that was why they were being victimized.

They demanded that the Sindh minister for local government and public health engineering Arbab Ghulam Rahim should be removed.

They also demanded that an impartial inquiry should be held against the minister and police officers concerned.
