HYDERABAD, Aug 18: The secretary general, Hyderabad, Samaji Council, Abdul Aziz Sambhri, in a statement issued on Sunday has said that the Paretabad Greater Sewerage Project was a monument of corruption, and added that due to the corrupt practices of the HDA the project, which had cost tens of millions of rupees, had collapsed in its initial stage.

He said that due to wrong planning and using substandard material, the pipelines had been closed and dirty water was coming out of the manhole.

He said due to the inefficiency of the HDA and the engineering department and looting of the contractor, millions of rupees had gone down the drain.

He said that a newly-constructed road had caved in as a result of which fatal accidents could not be ruled out.

He demanded the Sindh governor and the district Nazim to order an immediate inquiry into the matter.
