NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 17 A man was taken into custody by Kandiaro police for selling his 10-year-old daughter in marriage to a 40-year-old man. Police also took the underage bride into their custody.

Reports reveal that Karim Bux Solangi of Shahbaz Colony Kandiaro sold his 10-year-old daughter Marvi to 40-year-old Shahmir Kalo of Malo village near Kandiaro for Rs80,000.

Nikah was solemnised two days ago with rukhsati scheduled for Sunday.

WHC Kandiaro police, Niaz Hussain Tanwri told Dawn that police took the girl and her father into custody and went to judicial magistrate's office. The magistrate had left the office as they reached late. He said that they would be produced before the magistrate again on Monday.

Police were looking for Nikah Khwan.
