Funds for hospital in Hub demanded

Published August 18, 2002

HUB, Aug 17: Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital, Hub, has been operating without any life-saving drugs, funds for surgical operations and X-ray films and basic facilities for more than two years.

Balochistan Health Secretary Arshad Khan Bhatti and Director-General Dr Pir Jan learnt about the problems during their visit to the 50-bedded hospital here on Saturday.

Both the secretary and the DG, who arrived in Hub on a one-day visit, attended an informal ceremony and told the lady health workers about the ways to deal with emergency situations.

They went round different wards of the hospital and talked to the patients and the staff, who informed them that the hospital did not have any life-saving drugs and necessary equipment for carrying out operations.

Resident Medical Officer Dr Ishaq Baloch demanded of the authorities to provide funds and basic amenities to the hospital, which was established in 1997 to provide health care to the people of Hub, Gaddani, Winder, Sonmiani, Dureji and other adjacent areas.

The secretary assured the staff that their problems would be considered sympathetically and necessary steps would be taken to resolve those problems.
