ISLAMABAD, Aug 16: The salaries of the chairman Senate and speaker of National Assembly, deputy chairman of Senate and, deputy speaker national assembly were increased on Friday.

The president on Friday promulgated two ordinances, namely Chairman and Speaker (Salaries, Allowances and Privileges) (amendment) Ordinance 2002 and Deputy Chairman and Deputy Speaker (Salaries, Allowances, and Privileges (amendment) Ordinance 2002.

The salary of the chairman Senate and speaker national assembly has been raised from Rs22,250 to Rs40,000.

Similarly the salary of deputy chairman Senate and deputy speaker national assembly has also been raised from Rs18,000 to 30,000.

On Feb 27 the President Pervez Musharraf had also increased the salary of the President from Rs23,000 to Rs57,000. The president had also amended the President’s Pension Act providing that he would be entitled to 85 percentum pension of the salary. Earlier the retired president was entitled to Rs10,000 as pension

In May this year the president had also raised the salary of non existent prime minister from Rs22,000 to Rs56,000 per month, 1,000 less than the salary of the president.
