HYDERABAD, Aug 15: The general secretary, Hyderabad Glass Bangles Mazdoor Ittehad Union, Siraj Gaddi, has said that a large number of workers who were working in the glass bangle units in Hyderabad SITE had been deprived of all basic facilities and the labour department, Hyderabad, was fully aware of the excesses against the poor workers.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr Siraj said that the workers had not been issued any appointment letter, factory cards or social security cards so as to deprive them of their legal rights under the labour laws.

He said that they were being deprived of annual, medical, and casual leaves, and not being covered under the old-age benefit scheme.
