Islah dismisses PHF move

MEANWHILE, one of the 89 legends Islahuddin Siddiqui, after being asked for his reaction to the PHF press conference was of the view that the PHF had a very weak case.

“They have nothing convincing to say in their defence. On the other hand we only spoke on the basis of facts and figures,” he said.

“It is sad to see that instead of working for the betterment of hockey the PHF is now going to use all its resources on finding people to defend and who have shown how low they can stoop by resorting to personal attacks. Well, they can say what they want. They have no standing in front of us -- 48 Olympians and 41 internationals. We are a big forum.

“If the PHF President Qasim Zia still doesn't sack his secretary, who we know is the root of all evil here, Akhtar-ul-Islam, Shahnaz Sheikh, Shahbaz Senior, Samiullah, Ayaz Mahmood, Qamar Zia, Qamar Ibrahim and myself along with the others will take time with the patron of the sport Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, too, to give him the true picture of Pakistan hockey.

“The prime minister I'm sure will make time to know what we, who have brought so much glory for this country in the sport, have to say.

“We are looking for the games' short-term and long-term benefits here. We are not into making personal attacks. There is no loose talk on our part. We stand by what we say,” he concluded.
