GUJRANWALA, Aug 12: Revenue patwaris in the district went on a token strike against the baton-charge on them by Phalia police here on Monday.

At a meeting presided over by Anjuman Patwarian president Riaz Ahmad, the participants demanded that policemen involved in manhandling should be suspended from service.

Wearing black arm bands, the protesting patwaris also demanded that their outstanding dues be given to them in accordance with the law.

They pledged that their protest would continue till the acceptance of their demands.

RAPED: A woman was raped and another was abducted in two different incidents in and around the city here on Monday.

Victim ‘S’ was alone in her house in Ghumanwala village when Riasat came there and escaped after raping her.

Tetley police have registered a case and are investigating.

A teenaged girl ‘Y’ of Badneywala village was abducted by three outlaws — Ziaullah, Khalid and Noor Din — when she was on her way home from fields.

KILLS WIFE: A jobless youth on Monday shot dead his wife over some domestic issue in Pipliwala village.

Ashfaq and Nabila were not in good terms for quite some time. On Monday, the couple again fell out over monetary issue. Falling into rage, Ashfaq opened fire on her wife, killing her instantly. The deceased was the mother of two minor children.

Police have registered a case.
