DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 8: Education Deputy Director Salahud Din Khan held a meeting with the officials of district education department, during his visit to D.I.Khan, to discuss ghost schools here.

It was noted that many ghost schools existed in the district were being built as a political bribery to the members of provincial and national assemblies in the past, and these schools were constructed in the areas where there was no need of such institutions.

Though staff had also been provided, but no educational activities were ever found in these buildings.

The teachers had either been serving as home servants with the influential political figures or been detailed in other institutions where they were not needed.

Various news papers had often traced out these ghost schools and disclosed the situation, but the authorities had failed to check the crime. As now there existed no political pressure or interference in education department, the new government has decided to tighten the situation.

During the meeting the improvement was calculated and further steps for further betterment were discussed.

NWFP education director is also due in Dera Ismail Khan during last week of the current month. During his visit, the transfer lists of the teachers would be compiled and implementation would be expected after October elections.
