PESHAWAR, Aug 7: Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari gave Pushto Poetry a climax and introduced new dimensions in Pushto Ghazal.

This was observed by renowned educationist, poet and writer Prof Dr Yar Mohammad Maghmoom the other evening while addressing a literary gathering organized by the Pakistan Academy of Letters Regional Office here. 

The function was presided over by an spiritual and literary figure, Tahir Bukhari.

Dr Maghmoom said Shinwari had well explained many Pukhtoon values like Pukhtoonwali, simplicity and ego, and motivated people to be more men of deeds rather than words. He had elaborated the philosophies of Rehman Baba, Khushhal Khan Khattak and reformist Bayazeed Ansari.

Tahir Bukhari and Said Wali Khyal Mohmand, Resident Director of the academy, in their speeches also highlighted various aspects of the life, poetry and philosophy of Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari.  

Later, in questions and answers session, various philosophical and technicalities of the Pushto poetry, especially in Hamza Shinwari’s creations were discussed. The speakers on this occasion lauded services of the academy for the promotion of national and local literature in the country.
