LARKANA, Nov 6: An infant girl was killed when police sneaked into the house of Roshan Shaikh while searching for certain suspects on Tuesday morning in Safdar Colony on the outskirts of Larkana city. The villagers who staged a demonstration outside SSP office told Dawn that SHO Haidri police station Abdul Rasool Bughio along with police force broke into the house of Roshan Shaikh in Safdar colony and not only threw away the household articles but insulted the inmates and womenfolk.

Police also arrested villagers— Aitbar Ali, Imdad, Manzoor, Zahid, Roshan and Mukhtiar. A four-month old baby girl Nirma was also stuffed under the blankets and pillows and suffocated to death during the search.

The villagers protesting against the police excesses took out a procession and demonstrated outside SSP office demanding justice. Khursheed Junejo, the Zila Nazim, while passing through met the protesters who were carrying the body of the girl and apprised him about the highhandedness of police.

While narrating the ordeal to Zila Nazim , the acting SSP Alam Khan Shunvari arrived at the scene. The Zila Nazim ordered for the immediate suspension of SHO Haidri police station and registering FIR against the accused.

Safdar Mithani, the Nazim of union council-7 told this correspondent that it was an open excess and police harassment.
