ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: The Islamabad Tennis Association is to hold an Independence Day tournament between August 15 and 21.

To be held at the Islamabad Club courts, the events to be contested are singles (boys/girls under-12 and under-14) and singles and doubles for under-18 players.

Mahboob Khan, who has been appointed as the tournament director, said that the main aim of organising such a competition was to provide an opportunity to the players to test their own abilities.

Meanwhile the District Sports Committee Rawalpindi has planned a number of tournaments in connection with this month’s Independence Day, says a press release.

The tournaments to be organised include football, volleyball, cricket and exhibition basketball and kabaddi matches.
