18 bodies fished out from canal

VEHARI, Aug 4: The bodies of 18 people out of 20, who drowned in the Thingi Canal on Saturday after a Mailsi-bound wagon fell into it, were fished out from different spots here on Sunday.

They were identified as conductor Muhammad Imtiaz Khan, Allah Ditta, Zahid Hussain, Muhammad Akram, his son Muhammad Ramzan, Hanifan Bibi, Jafar Bukhari, Zakir Hussain, Shehnaz Bibi (6), Wahid Bukhsh, his wife Nasreen Mai, Muhammad Sharif, Ghulam Ahmed Dakota, Ramsha, Riaz Ahmed and Mulazim Hussain.

The two unidentified bodies were shifted to the mortuary of the THQ Hospital, Mailsi.

Talking to Dawn, MS Dr Muhammad Ashraf said that relatives had taken away the bodies to their respective villages for burial on Sunday.
