Weapons seized near Chaman

QUETTA, Aug 2: The Pishin Scouts, a wing of Frontier Corps, seized illegal weapons from Durga Nallah, an area close to Pakistan-Afghanistan border near Chaman, on Friday evening.

According to FC sources, Pishin scouts raided the Durga Nallah area and recovered a consignment of illegal weapons, which include 19 RPG-7 shells, 21 grenades, two sub-machine guns with eight magazines, one Kalakove gun and two other rifles along with several hundred rounds.

However, no arrest could be made as the gun runners escaped from the area and crossed into Afghan area, sources said, adding that the weapons were brought from Afghanistan for its smuggling to the interior of the country for terrorist activities.

Meanwhile, the FC also recovered huge quantity of foreign goods, including cloth, cigarettes, tyres, soap and other contraband items from Sanjidi Nallah loaded in eight vehicles.

The raiding party impounded the vehicles, but the smugglers succeeded to escape. The value of the seized vehicles and foreign goods is estimated to be around Rs20 million.
