Asif’s goal puts Heroes in final

LAHORE, Aug 2: Pak Heroes and Packages Club cruised into the final of the Lahore district hockey championship at the  National Hockey Stadium Friday.

A solitary goal, in the second half, by centre-forward Asif helped Pak Heroes to beat a strong Wohaib Club 1-0 in the semifinal.

Nadeem Asad missed a penalty stroke in the first half, however Asif made up for the error in the 55th minute by scoring a field  goal on  solo effort.

In  other prefinals, Asif Ahmad scored the decisive goal in the 45th minute to enable Packages to beat Noble Club 2-1.

Both the teams were locked 1-1 at the end of the first half.

Nadeem put Packages Club ahead in the 26th minute by scoring a  field goal. Three minutes later, Zubair struck the equaliser for Noble Club.

After resumption, Asif banged home the match winner in the  45th  minute through field attempt.

The final will be played on Sunday at 5pm.
