SARGODHA, Aug 2: The district government did not demand budget grant for the salaries of 3,000 incumbents of various district departments while the budget for several subsidiary departments of the Education was also miscalculated.

Sources said on Friday that while preparing the budget demand, the section concerned of the district government had not inducted posts of hundreds of professors, lecturers, teachers and clerks of special, general and technical education.

The district accounts office has reportedly refused to pay the salaries to unapproved posts as they were missed out in the budget. The affected employees felt embarrassment when the accounts office suddenly showed its inability to pay them salaries.

When contacted, district budget officer Ghulam Sabir blamed the budget officer and held him responsible for this blunder.

The affected employees asked the government to suspend the officials concerned and that their salaries be released without any delay.

District budget officer Ghulam Sabir, who had retired from service, has been recruited on contract basis as reportedly he is a close relative of an influential bureaucrat. His services were hired for finalizing the current fiscal budget for the district government. — Correspondent
