MULTAN, Dec 9 Death toll in Tuesday's suicide attack on ISI building rose to nine on Wednesday while the police have yet to register an FIR of the incident.

Rescuers recovered the body of 55-year-old Riaz Bibi from the damaged structures near the ISI building.

According to police sources, 13 suspects taken into custody from various localities of the district are being quizzed.

However, district police officer Saud Aziz did not confirm the arrests and said, “We are not in a position to share any information.” However, SP (investigation) Shaukat Abbas told this correspondent that so far three people had taken into custody -- one each from Qadirpuran, Shujabad and Jalalpur Pirwala.

He said these persons were not taken into custody in connection with the ISI building incident and their arrest was part of general crackdown on suspects.

District officer (civil Defence) Shahid Pervez said his staff, besides collecting parts of the vehicle used in the blast, had also found a live warhead of rocket launcher.

“Although it is difficult to confirm what kind of explosive was used, most probably the attackers used TNT material.”

He said the explosion was much powerful and his staff worked hard to find the pieces of the vehicle.

When contacted, Cantonment police duty officer said “The FIR is likely to be registered by Wednesday night.” About 100 staffers work in Multan's ISI office while unmarried ones reside in the building.
