Expansion of Sindh cabinet likely

HYDERABAD, Aug 1: Sindh Governor Mohemmedmian Soomro has defended the induction of five ministers of the SDA in his cabinet on the ground that the people from other political groups were not ready to join the cabinet.

Talking to newsmen in Bhit Shah on Thursday, he hinted at further expansion of his cabinet by saying that the induction of more minister was necessary to widen the scope of interaction between his government and the people of Sindh.

Responding to a question about his plans for contesting general elections on a seat of the National Assembly and his resignation as governor, he said that everything would be become clear in the current month.

SUSPENDED: The Sindh minister for irrigation and power, Syed Ejaz Ali Shah Sheerazi, here on Wednesday suspended the in charge, Rohri Canal, sub-engineer Jam Mitha Khan, XEN, Hala division, Ghulam Sarwar Shaikh, assistant sub-engineer and Darogha on the charges of negligence and lethargic attitude while performing their duties in connection with the breach in the Rohri Canal.

He also ordered a detailed inquiry to ascertain the causes of the breach and to fix responsibility. A committee, comprising Bashir Ahmad Dahar, chief engineer, irrigation development, and M. Izhar Khan, chief engineer, Kotri Barrage, has been constituted to find out facts within a week so that action could be taken against the parsons involved.

The minister visited the site of the breach and relief camps, established by the district government.
