ISLAMABAD, Aug 1: A petition has been filed with Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi Bench, seeking registration of an FIR against capital police and district administration officials for allegedly killing two people during a clash with the villagers of Siri Saral on last Monday.

The petition was filed on Thursday by Mohammad Azam, brother of one of the victims, Abdul Latif, with the help of Jamaat-i- Islami (JI), Rawalpindi.

The first hearing of the case will be held on Friday. Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, a lawyer of the JI, will represent the petitioner.

According to the official statement, two people were killed and over 200 injured during the clash.

An FIR of the incident has been registered with Golra police, in which the Golra Police Station SHO is the complainant. However, the police are reluctant to register a case on the complaint of villagers.

“We will request the high court to order the authorities concerned to the get the FIR registered against the officials involved in the shoot out,” Mian Aslam, JI Amir in Islamabad, told Dawn.

He said hundreds of people had witnessed that officials of police and the Capital Development Authority had opened fire on the innocent villagers.

Meanwhile, the district and sessions judge, Islamabad, is conducting a judicial inquiry into the case to get the factual details.
