HYDERABAD, July 31: Sindh Ombudsman Haziqul Khairi here on Tuesday issued a contempt notice for Aug 12 to Latifabad Taluka Nazim Abdul Jabbar Khan for his failure to attend the office of the ombudsman despite repeated notices.

The Nazim had sent the taluka officer, regulation, Zafar Baig, to the office.

The notice was issued on the complaint of Aftab Ahmad Shaikh, former senator of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, in the matter of demolition of police kiosk, constructed in front of his residence.

Mr Shaikh attended the camp office, established at circuit house, where the provincial ombudsman disposed of 40-cases, pertaining to serving and retired government servants and other people.

The Nazim, who later reached the camp office, informed the ombudsman that the kiosk was demolished as a part of the anti-encroachment drive by the outgoing municipal administration.

He requested to condone his absence but it was not condoned on the ground that he had gone Bhit Shah in connection with relief efforts, being carried out following a breach that occurred in the Rohri Canal.

The ombudsman told him that he was about to send police to bring him to his office.

The Nazim was also on notice in connection with the issue of shifting of cattle pens to Cattle Colony.

He informed the ombudsman that cattle would be shifted in next one month and added that some files about Cattle Colony had gone missing.

Meanwhile, the ombudsman told a group of newsmen that fresh applications, submitted to him during his stay at the circuit house, pertained to non-payment of salaries to employees of civic bodies, shifting of the Al-Mustafa Girls High School, unit-10, Latifabad.
