ISLAMABAD, July 29: Khayal Muhammad of Punjab stood tall Monday winning the 6th Hashim Khan National Junior Squash Championship with a 3-1 defeat of Arshad Iqbal Burki at the POF Complex, Wah.

In this under-19 final that saw both players excessively arguing over let calls, Arshad claimed the first game 5-9 with a fine display of shots in his armoury. But Khayal, fought back bravely to win the next three 9-4, 9-4, 9-0.

The under-17 crown went to PAF’s Farhan Mahboob who beat Basit Ashfaq of Punjab 10-8, 9-3, 9-2 in 28 minutes while Adil Atlas captured the under-15 title with a 9-1, 9-2, 9-1 thrashing of Farzan Rashid. Amir Atlas became the champion in the under-13 category overpowering Waqar Mahboob 10-8, 9-3, 8-10, 9-5.

Under-19 player Sarah Awan emerged the first woman champion in the championship outplaying Shafaq Naeem 9-2, 9-2, 9-0 while Muqaddas took the under-17 honours beating Misha Siddiqui 9-0, 9- 0, 9-3.

Maleeha Shahid meanwhile was the winner of the under-15 title, her victim being Gul Zaman Khan whom she beat 9-3, 9-0, 5- 9, 9-3. In the under-13 competition, Maria needed only six minutes to seal a 9-1, 9-1, 9-1 win against Marahaba Nemat.
