LHC CJ to act as governor

LAHORE, July 29: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Falak Sher was sworn in as acting Punjab governor on Monday.

Governor Khalid Maqbool, who has gone to Saudi Arabia to perform umra, is due to return home on Saturday. The oath-taking ceremony was attended by judges of the LHC, provincial ministers and senior civil and police officers. Lt-Gen Zarrar Azim, the Lahore corps commander, was also present on the occasion. Later, the acting governor administered oath to Justice Mian Nazir Akhtar as acting chief justice of the LHC. —Staff Reporter
