BADIN, July 29: The provincial minister for irrigation, Aijaz Hussain Shah Shirazi, has directed the irrigation officials to ensure availability of water within a week to the tail-ends of the Sultan, Lundo, Manak, Shadi Small, and Dubi Wahs.

The minister said this while talking to journalists in Badin on Saturday night after conducting a surprise visit to the distributaries and minors of Tando Bago Taluka.

He assured the growers that they would receive water regularly when the rotation ended within 15 days.

TWO OFFICIALS SUSPENDED: The provincial minister for irrigation suspended two irrigation officials, Sarfaraz and Qadir Bux, following their dereliction from duties.

He said that he had received no complaint whatsoever against any of the district Nazims as the complaints could still be lying with the minister of their department.

He said that desiltation of the Chakar and Bawali Shakhs would be carried out soon to meet the long-standing demand of the growers.

SDA ELECTIONS: The elections of the Sindh Democratic Alliance (SDA) were held on Monday.

They were held under the chairmanship of Mohammed Hashim Dal.

Sain Bux Jamali and Ali Mohammed Ansari were elected as its president and general secretary respectively, while Maqbool Ahmed Memon was elected senior vice president, Mohammed Iqbal Kasar was elected vice president, Maqsood Ahmed was elected office secretary, and Khalid Mehmood Ghumman was elected information secretary unopposed.

The in-party polls of other political parties were also held in Badin District. Almost all the members were elected unopposed.

Dr Sikandar Ali Mandhro and Abdul Ghafoor Nizamani were re-elected district PPP president and its general secretary respectively, while Nadir Ali Khwaja was elected vice president.

Besides, Haji Ramzan Chandio and Mulazam Hussain Laghari were elected for the PPP Sindh Council.
