LAHORE, Nov 12 Two workers of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) suffered burns during a demonstration here on Thursday against Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired) outside the party secretariat in Faisal Town.

The PPP-Punjab organised the demonstration in protest against the alleged harsh remarks by Gen Musharraf, published in a foreign newspaper, about President Asif Ali Zardari.

PPP workers got charged while burning an effigy of Musharraf and the clothes of Aslam Ghara and Sheikh Akram caught fire. They were rushed to Jinnah Hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

The demonstration was led by PPP Punjab President Rana Aftab Ahmad. The prominent among the other participants were Punjab secretary-general Samiullah Khan, Usman Malik and Dr Ziaullah Bangash. Holding PPP flags and placards, they chanted slogans against the former president and demanded that the federal government try him for high treason charges.
