ISLAMABAD, July 27: President Gen Pervez Musharraf is set to begin his official visit to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and China on Monday.

In the first leg of his visit, he will go to Bangladesh on his first visit to the country after assuming the office.

The invitation was extended by Bangladesh Prime Minister Begum Khalida Zia. The leaders have met in Kathmandu during the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit.

#ENVOY:# Bangladesh Ambassador Haleemul Haq said that more exchanges of high-level visits between the countries will help promote bilateral relations and understanding.

“The more exchanges of high-level visits we have, between our two Muslim countries, the better will be the understanding between the leadership and there will certainly be a reflection of understanding among the people,” the ambassador told Pakistan Television.

Asked in which fields there was scope for improvement in bilateral trade other than traditional items, he said there would be a good market in Bangladesh for Pakistan’s cotton, cotton yarn , sanitary and engineering products. “I think these can be the foundations on which good commercial and economic relations can be built,” he said.—APP
