SAHIWAL, Oct 22 Tehsil Nazim Umer Ishaq has been suspended again, but this time for 90 days, on the 'recommendation' of the Punjab Local Government Commission.

A complaint is lodged against the tehsil nazim with the Punjab Local Government Commission and the commission has recommended his suspension to ensure 'transparency' and 'objectivity in inquiry' against him, says the order issued by the commission.

Ishaq has been suspended for alleged irregularities in approval of various contracts for 2009-10. It is said that Ishaq approved a contract for Rs20.75 million. The same contract was approved for Rs40.03 million last year.

Ishaq has been previously suspended on same charges, but this time he has been suspended under different clauses of the Punjab Local Government Ordinance 2001.

Previously, section 197 of the Ordinance was used to punish Ishaq, but this time section 132(3) of the Ordinance has been used for the purpose.
