GUJRANWALA, July 26: A former district council vice-chairman and the younger brother of former federal minister, Rana Nazir Ahmad, was shot dead on Friday by his rivals in Kamoki.

Rana Shabbir Ahmad was standing outside the bungalow of his elder brother when outlaws riding in a car came there. After exchanging hard words, they opened fire at him and escaped. He sustained several bullet injuries and was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital where he died.

Kamoki Saddar police have registered a case against the assailants and arrested the main accused, Saifullah Patwari.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested former federal minister Rana Nazir Ahmad after accused Saifullah provided the record concerned against him. Besides, the money dispute was also going on between them.

On Friday, accused Saifullah along with his accomplices Manzoor Ahmad and Muhammad Asghar had also fallen out with the deceased, but the area people reconciled the matter.

Rana Nazir Ahmad, released on bail, was also present in his bungalow at the time of incident.
