ISLAMABAD, July 23: The President on Tuesday issued Order for holding of local government elections in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The order, named Federally Administered Tribal Areas Local Government Election Order 2002, provides that local government elections should be conducted in Fata by the Chief Election Commissioner.

The Chief Election Commissioner, however, is empowered to delegate his powers and functions to any member of the Election Commission if he deemed it fit.

The Presidential Order says that no court shall question the legality of any action taken in good faith or under the authority of the Chief Election Commissioner, Returning Officer, Presiding Officer or an Assistant Presiding Officer or any decision given by any of them, or any other officer or authority appointed this order.
