Chairlift to start from Aug 1

Published July 23, 2002

LAHORE, July 22: The Ayubia National Park chairlift that remained inoperative for a year will be functional by Aug 1.

Installed in 1962, the chairlift, a major attraction for tourists, is the first of its kind in the country. It remained inoperative for a year because of a tussle between Galliat Development Authority highups and the contractor. New contractor Haji Ayaz told Dawn on Sunday that he had six more partners and four of them were qualified engineers. He said necessary repair work was going on and the chairlift would be operational by Aug 1. — IS
