LAHORE, July 21: The PPP on Sunday dismissed as disinformation reports that Ms Benazir Bhutto would step down as party chairperson to clear way for Makhdoom Amin Faheem.

Party’s acting secretary-general Reza Rabbani said that Ms Bhutto was the chairperson today and she would be the party chairperson tomorrow. The party, he emphasized, was not ready to accept any change.

He said there was no possibility of Ms Bhutto relinquishing the charge of the party chief on her own nor would the party accept any such move, if at all made.

He alleged that a disinformation campaign had been launched by the regime against the PPP leadership to create confusion in the minds of party workers.

The regime, he said, was also trying to politically eliminate the Bhuttos by enacting Bhutto-specific laws with retrospective effect. But, he made it clear that the party was determined to circumvent all such efforts.

JOIN: According to a press release, a 12-member PPP delegation led by Mandi Bahauddin’s district vice-president Shafqat Mahmood Gondal, met PML(N) leaders on Sunday and joined the party.

Mr Khosa welcomed them in the party.
