PESHAWAR, Sept 5 Residents of various localities of Dargai have objected to the design of Kot-Sind Ghara Road fearing that it would damage their fertile agriculture lands.
People said that they needed up to 28 feet road for communication and the width of the existing road was 35 to 40 feet which was enough for normal vehicular traffic in the area.
They alleged that vested interests wanted to deprive the locals of their fertile lands.
Locals including Malak Said, Ameen Jan, Haji Gul Faraz, Noor Alam, Haji Gul Sher and Malak Ezat Noor said in a statement issued here on Saturday that if the locals were not taken into confidence, they would stage protest demonstration against expansion of the road.
They alleged that some people including the concerned contractor wanted to ignite differences while the locals wanted to resolve the issue amicably.
The road to Selai Pati and Sind Ghara villages were being funded under the anti-narcotics programme.
It would lead to Barang area of Bajaur Agency.
They demanded of the NWFP governor, chief minister, DCO Malakand and authorities of the project to consider their reservations over the project and save their fertile lands from destruction.
