TIMERGARA, July 20: Amir Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has dispelled the impression that Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal, an alliance of religious organisations, is the creation of secret agencies.

Speaking at a “Meet the Press” programme in district Dir on Friday, the JI chief said the alliance would play a very crucial role in national politics and provide honest leadership to the country to rid the people of corrupt elements.

He said the leadership of different religious parties had expressed willingness to form an alliance to pull the country out of the crisis.

Responding to a question, Qazi Hussain Ahmad said the existing district level government had failed and the elected Nazimeen had no power.

He rejected the proposed constitutional package, saying the JI was against the military’s role in politics. He said the constitutional package would pose a threat to the federation. He said that an elected parliament would not accept dictation from any unconstitutional body and, instead, uphold its own supremacy.

Earlier, addressing a public meeting in district Dir, the JI chief said that MMA will start a countrywide movement from July 23 to mobilise the masses.

He urged the people to elect the alliance candidates in the upcoming polls to pave the way for implementation of a true Islamic system in the country.

During the campaign, people would be convinced to elect honest and dedicated representatives to get their problems resolved and to serve the country’s interest, he added.

He also lashed out at the government’s Kashmir and Afghan policies.
