PESHAWAR, July 20: One person was shot dead allegedly by four persons over a family dispute in Matani area on Saturday.

A witness and the son of the deceased, Yar Mohammad, told the police that he was sitting at his shop with his father, Yar Badshah.

His brother-in-law Amin Jan came with Khairul Bashar, Abdullah Jan and Haq Nawaz to the shop and allegedly opened fire, killing his father, he said. The accused then ran away.

Yar Mohammad said three passers-by were wounded in the shooting. The victims were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital.

The witness said his sister was married to Amin Jan sometimes back, but she was not comfortable at her husband’s home. A few weeks back she had a dispute and come to her father’s home, he added.

He said his brother-in-law thought that the deceased was a hurdle in the way of her returning to his home.

ACCIDENT: A boy was run over by a car on the Jamrood Road on Saturday.

Abdul Jamil lodged an FIR with the Hayatabad Police, saying his younger brother, Abdul Jalil, was going to a tuition centre on his bicycle on the Jamrood Road when the car hit him from back. He received head injury. People took him to the Hayatabad Medical Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police have registered a case against the unknown driver.
