An application has been submitted in Sibi court seeking registration of an FIR against Musharraf for the murder of Nawab Bugti.—File
QUETTA The Sibi Sessions Court issued on Tuesday notices to the Balochistan IG and SHO of the Dera Bugti police station on an application seeking registration of an FIR against former president Pervez Musharraf and some other people for the murder of veteran Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Judge Jan Mohammad Gohar accepted the application of Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, the eldest son of Nawab Bugti, and asked the IG and SHO to attend the next hearing on Sept 2. Nawab Bugti was killed in a military operation in Dera Bugti on Aug 26, 2006.

The application submitted through Advocate Sohail Rajput wants Gen (retd) Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former interior minister Aftab Sherpao, former Balochistan governor Owais Ghani, former chief minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf, former home minister Sohaib Nausherwani and other members of the Balochistan cabinet named in the FIR.

Talking to journalists, Jamil Bugti said he wanted to bring the killers of his father and other Baloch leaders to justice.

Answering a question about the delay in filing the application, he said that Dera Bugti had been a no-go area for the family of Nawab Bugti over the past three years.  That was the reason, he said, for filing the application in the Sibi court.
